West Ham Confirm Record-Breaking Sale

Crysencio Summerville has officially joined Al Hilal from West Ham, completing a deal worth up to £60 million. The Saudi Pro League giants will pay an initial £55m, with a further £5m available through add-ons. He's put pen to paper on a four-year contract after finishing his medical in Amsterdam.

West Ham's relegation to the Championship made the winger's exit almost inevitable, despite him having three years left on his previous deal. Roma moved first, tabling a £39m offer earlier this month. However, Al Hilal swooped late and blew that proposal out of the water, moving with real urgency once talks intensified.

Manchester United and Aston Villa also monitored the situation, hoping to keep him in English football. Neither club matched the financial muscle Al Hilal brought to the table, though. Once the Saudi side's interest became serious, the outcome felt inevitable.

Summerville leaves London Stadium having made 56 appearances since arriving from Leeds in 2024. He scored seven goals and added five assists last season alone, numbers that caught plenty of attention. His World Cup form with the Netherlands only strengthened his market value further, netting two goals and two assists across four matches before elimination.

A Statement Signing for Al Hilal

This transfer marks another statement of intent from Al Hilal, who continue building an ambitious squad in Riyadh. Summerville now joins a dressing room already featuring Ruben Neves, Karim Benzema, and Theo Hernandez under manager Simone Inzaghi. Quite the company for a 24-year-old still building his reputation.

For West Ham, the sale becomes the club's third-highest ever, trailing only Declan Rice and Mateus Fernandes. Combined with Fernandes' earlier £85m move to Tottenham, the Hammers have now generated over £145m this summer alone.
