Opening Offer Knocked Back

Liverpool's pursuit of Yan Diomande has hit an early snag, but not a fatal one. Their opening proposal, worth around €100 million, landed on RB Leipzig's desk and was sent straight back. The Bundesliga side made their stance clear immediately. €100 million simply does not reflect their valuation of the 19-year-old winger.

Leipzig reportedly want closer to €130 million before they'll even entertain serious talks. That gap hasn't discouraged Liverpool, however. Sources close to the negotiations expect the Reds to return with an improved package soon, determined not to let an early rejection derail their primary summer target.

Leipzig Dig In, Player Wants Out

Leipzig's resistance runs deeper than simple price haggling. The club genuinely wants to keep Diomande for one more season, dangling a substantially upgraded contract complete with a release clause for 2027. Essentially, stay now, leave later, on your own terms.

Diomande sees things differently. Despite the tempting offer, he reportedly prefers an immediate exit this summer rather than waiting another year. That disconnect between club and player could ultimately tip the balance in Liverpool's favour, even if Leipzig hold firm publicly for now.

A Race Against Rising Value

Timing matters here too. Diomande continues impressing at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, and every strong performance pushes his price higher. Leipzig know this, and they're in no rush to sell before the tournament wraps up. Paris Saint-Germain remain interested as well, adding further competition to the mix.

Liverpool, though, appear ready to go again. Expect a bigger bid soon, with the club determined to win this race before rivals close the gap.
