Forest Target Bergvall as Anderson Successor

Nottingham Forest have identified Lucas Bergvall as their top priority to replace Elliot Anderson, whose British-record £116m move to Manchester City left a considerable void. Talks with Tottenham remain ongoing, however an opening bid worth roughly £38m has already been knocked back. Spurs, it seems, want closer to £50m before sanctioning any sale.

Bergvall's situation at Tottenham has grown complicated lately. Big-money arrivals Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have squeezed his path to regular minutes, prompting him to signal a desire for change. Despite that, Spurs remain reluctant sellers, having beaten Barcelona to his signature back in 2024 for just £8.5m. Watching him leave for a fraction of their valuation clearly isn't part of the plan.

Forest, meanwhile, appear determined to push things through. New boss Oliver Glasner reportedly views Bergvall as the ideal long-term midfield anchor, someone capable of bringing creativity alongside genuine technical quality. Should the fee eventually land near £45m, Forest could yet complete their record signing this summer.

A Rising Star Seeking Regular Football

Bergvall's talent has never really been in question. Pep Guardiola once famously called him unstoppable after a Spurs win over Manchester City, and he swept Tottenham's individual awards during a breakout 2024/25 campaign. Injuries disrupted his following season though, restricting him to limited Premier League starts.

Now, with midfield competition intensifying under Roberto De Zerbi, Bergvall wants assurances elsewhere. Reports suggest Forest will return with an improved offer soon, hoping to finally bridge the valuation gap and secure their man.
